The APPEA 2018 plenary program will feature some outstanding speakers, including Dr Larry Marshall, Chief Executive of CSIRO, Australia’s national science and research agency.
A recent CSIRO report – Oil and Gas: A Roadmap for unlocking future growth opportunities for Australia – provided thought-provoking insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the nation’s oil and gas industry. Dr Marshall’s presentation will focus on this roadmap, addressing the trends, issues and opportunities facing the Australian oil and gas industry and discussing how research and innovation can support the sector.
Dr Marshall is a scientist, technology innovator and business leader who is committed to tackling gender inequality. He has a PhD in Physics and became a global leader in laser research. He has 100 publications and conference papers, holds 20 patents, and has served on 20 boards of high-tech companies operating in the US, Australia and China.
For more than a decade, Dr Marshall has stressed the unique ability of science and innovation in delivering long-term value and sustained growth. A passionate supporter of Australian innovation, he returned to Australia to lead CSIRO, which he believes is the essential catalyst to improving Australia’s innovation performance.
