What is APPEA?

The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association Ltd (APPEA) is the peak national body representing Australia’s upstream oil and gas exploration and production industry. The APPEA Conference and Exhibition has been running for more than 59 years and is widely recognised as the premier oil and gas event in the southern hemisphere.

The Association has full member companies, all of which are oil and gas explorers and producers active in Australia. These companies account for an estimated 98 per cent of the nation’s petroleum production. APPEA also represents associate member companies that provide a wide range of goods and services to the upstream oil and gas industry.

Can I get a delegate list?

APPEA will release the attendee list of those registered to date approximately 1 week before the conference. It is typically provided as a link & login to the conference website in your delegate pre-arrival email. Only fully paid and registered attendees will receive access to this list.

Post event the final delegate list – including all registrations taken onsite – is made available via the conference proceedings.  The online proceedings are available approximately 3 weeks post conference.

The conference mobile app which will be released shortly before the conference, also has a useful attendees feature allowing delegates to connect with each other.

Can I view the Conference proceedings online?

Typically the Conference proceedings which form the APPEA Journal , are made available online three weeks after the Conference, and registered delegates will be supplied with a login to the proceedings via email.

Whilst the conference was postponed, the 2020 conference technical and business papers were still be published in the APPEA Journal and is available to purchase.

I am new to the industry. Is this conference suitable for me?

The APPEA Conference and Exhibition attracts industry professionals from all areas and levels of the oil and gas industry. The varied content in the program ensures that delegates, whether they are senior or junior, will gain a great deal from attending the event. The program aside – the networking opportunities offered at the Conference are extensive no matter what your level or experience in the oil and gas industry.

Event Logistics

When should I arrive at the venue?

You will be able to register from the Monday morning of the first day of the conference.

Registration desk opening times are listed in the conference registration brochure. We recommend arriving and registering before the Welcome Reception, which begins at 6:00pm.

Delays may occur at peak times, including in the hour before the Welcome Reception.

Is there parking at the venue?

What will the weather be like during the conference?

What is the dress code?

  • Welcome Reception and Farewell Cocktails – Smart casual clothes are suitable.
  • Main Conference day time period – Business attire.
  • Conference Dinner – Black tie/Formal

My partner will be joining me. Are any tours being run?

While APPEA will not be managing any tours, Perth has a wide array of options that can be booked direct with touring operators. The websites www.experienceperth.com and www.visitperth.com.au  have ideas to inspire you.

The most up-to-date conference program will be available on the program schedule section of this conference website, and in the APPEA Conference mobile app (released approximately 2 weeks prior to the conference)

What are the registration fees for the Conference?

How can I register to attend the APPEA Conference?

Do I need a visa to attend the Conference?

All international visitors are required to have a valid passport and may need an entry visa (please check with your travel agent).

Can I register onsite at the event?

Yes, but this is not recommended as it can cause delays in processing. Please note that late registration fees will apply.

What registration categories are there for the event?

The registration categories include

  • Full Delegate
  • Day Delegate
  • Student
  • Complimentary Exhibitor
  • Exhibition Booth Staff

Note: There is not an ‘Exhibition Only’ registration category.

Full Delegate – one who is planning to attend the full Conference, including the Welcome Reception, Happy Hours, the Farewell Cocktails and all sessions on all days. The Conference Dinner is in addition to this registration fee.

Day Delegate – one who is planning to attend one or two days of the event. This registration does not include the Welcome Reception, the Farewell Cocktails or the Conference Dinner in the registration fee.

Student – a full-time student who wishes to participate in the Conference. Full details of the criteria for this category are included in the registration page of this website. Consultants are ineligible for a student registration.

Complimentary Exhibitor – a registration that is offered as part of an exhibitors package. Only companies who are exhibiting can register for this category. Full details are available in the registration brochure or in the exhibition prospectus.

Exhibition Booth Staff – one who seeks only to man their company booth in the Exhibition. This registration does not allow access to any of the sessions.

What if I need to cancel?

Please see the  Terms and Conditions of cancellation in the Registration Brochure or registration page of this website.

The conference administration team noted on the registration page is available to discuss your options.

Is APPEA membership required to attend the conference?

APPEA membership is not required to attend the conference, however APPEA Members receive discounted rates for both registrations and exhibiting. APPEA members are also given preference over non-APPEA members in the allocation of exhibition and sponsorship opportunities.

How can I book hotels and flights?

APPEA has contracted a range of accommodation which can be booked as part of your online registration process.

Flight bookings are not part of the registration process, delegates are required to make their own arrangements. Perth is serviced by all major airlines. Access for international visitors is easy and domestic visitors have the option of choosing from a number of carriers.

Can registrations be shared? If I cannot attend, can a colleague attend in my place?

Registrations cannot be shared. Should you be unable to attend, a substitute delegate is welcome at no extra charge if the conference administrators are notified in writing by the cut-off date. Please check the registration brochure for full terms and conditions.

Does the registration fee include a dinner ticket?

Tickets to the Conference Dinner on the Wednesday evening of the conference can be purchased as part of your registration process. They are not included in any registration category.

Can I purchase tickets for my colleague to join me at the social functions?

Additional tickets for all social functions can be purchased before the event as part of the online registration process.

One must be a registered delegate of the conference to purchase any social function tickets.

I have registered but my invoice is for the wrong amount, what should I do?

Please refer to the contact details on your tax invoice and confirmation email issued by the the conference administrators for assistance.

How much is registration and what is included in my registration fee?

When can I collect my registration pack onsite?

The registration desk and enquiry desk will be located in the main foyer of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, and open during the following times:

  • Monday 14 June 2020: 11.00am – 7:00pm
  • Tuesday 15 June: 7:30am–5:00pm
  • Wednesday 16 June 2020: 7:30am–5:00pm
  • Thursday 17 June 2020: 7.30am–3:00pm

How do I become a sponsor?

Sponsorship packages available at a range of levels for interested parties.

Sponsorships will be allocated according to the APPEA Conference Sponsorship Guidelines.

What are the dates and opening hours of the exhibition?

The Exhibition will be open as per the following times during the set days of the conference week:

  • Tuesday: 8:00am–6:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am–6:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am–3:00pm

 

Who can access the exhibition?

One must be a registered full delegate, day delegate, presenter or exhibitor to gain entrance to the Exhibition.

No ‘Exhibition Only’ registrations are on offer.

The Exhibition is not open to the general public.

How do I book exhibition space and what are the costs?

The exhibition page of this website has information about the exhibition including the prospectus, costs and floor plan.

Please ensure you check the opening time as you must get in early to secure a spot. The APPEA Exhibition has sold out in previous years; in this instance a wait-list will be opened.

Please note APPEA members and those who exhibited at the preceding APPEA Conference will be given preference when processing applications.

I am an exhibitor. How do I register my booth staff and access the Exhibitor Service Kit?

All confirmed exhibitors will be emailed an Exhibitors Kit which contains links to register your staff online.
