The National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) was established on 1 January 2012 and is a Branch of the Resources Division of the Department of Industry, Innovation & Science.
NOPTA’s purpose is to advise on and administer the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 for Australia’s offshore petroleum titles regime to support the effective regulation of our offshore oil and gas resources, consistent with good oil field practice and optimum recovery.
NOPTA is committed to the key principles that underpin good regulatory practice as described in the National Legislative Compliance Framework, and considers that strong and effective relationships with our stakeholders is essential for robust, transparent and consistent regulatory decisions.
