Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety
100 Plain Street
East Perth, Western Australia
The Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation & Safety (DMIRS) facilitates the responsible economic development of the State's resources. The importance of the resources sector to the Western Australian economy means that a major function of the Department is the provision of geoscientific information on minerals and energy resources, and the administration of legislation regulating the exploration and development of mineral and energy resources.
Within DMIRS, the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) gathers, synthesises, and publishes information on the State's geology, and mineral and petroleum resources, producing a huge volume of books, maps and state-of-the-art databases for the benefit of the Western Australian community including prospectors, explorers, miners, and investors.
