APPEA 2019 highlights

11 June 2019

The APPEA 2019 Conference and Exhibition, held in Brisbane from May 27-30, reflected both a new optimism and a real awareness of the challenges facing our industry.

Around 3000 people from 26 countries attended the flagship annual event which attracted 200 speakers and more than 150 exhibitors.

Five keynote sessions and 28 technical sessions, saw APPEA deliver the largest program ever offered in the 59 year history of the conference. The support of 37 sponsors was critical in ensuring another successful event.

With a theme of ‘Navigating the Future’, the Conference highlighted key areas of the industry including climate change and carbon policy, community and stakeholder relations, decommissioning, exploration and resource development and the perceptions of the modern industry.

Widely covered by local, national and international media outlets, APPEA 2019 delivered many highlights over the three-day program.

One of the major highlights was Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Senator Matt Canavan delivering his first major industry speech since the May 18 election.
