Huge early bird response to APPEA's annual conference

The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA), the peak body representing Australia's oil and gas industry, has received an unprecedented response through early bird registrations to its upcoming annual conference in Adelaide.

By the time early bird closed APPEA had received more than 2000 registrations, the biggest number received in the event's 52-year history.

More than 2700 delegates from around Australia and across the world are now expected to gather at Adelaide's Conference and Exhibition Centre from 13-16 May 2012.

APPEA Chief Executive David Byers said the response highlighted intense interest in this year's conference and exhibition amid significant investment in oil and gas projects now underway in Australia.

"This is an unparalleled opportunity to build relationships between individuals and organisations involved in the oil and gas industry," Mr Byers said.

"The conference and exhibition will make available an extraordinary display of oil and gas technologies, products and services.

"It will also deliver delegates a comprehensive program with presentations by leading experts addressing the entire supply chain in today's industry."

APPEA has assembled an impressive line-up of national and international speakers. The first plenary session will feature:

  • Saudi Arabian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naim;
  • International Energy Agency Executive Director Maria Van der Hoeven;
  • Total Chairman and Chief Executive Christophe de Margerie;
  • BHP Billiton Petroleum Chief Executive Michael Yeager; and
  • Woodside Energy Managing Director and Chief Executive Peter Coleman.

Full three-day and one-day registrations are available up until the conference opening.
